Born and raised in Pittsburgh, April Gruber is an arts administrator, dancer, and teaching artist. Prior to joining Dance/USA, Gruber served as the Individual Giving Manager at Dance Place where she built public understanding and support for the organization’s diverse dance programming by working directly with patrons, artists, government officials, and the Board of Directors. She also served at the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center at the University of Maryland & Exploring Ballet with Suzanne Farrell at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts during her graduate studies. Prior to moving to Washington, DC to pursue her MFA, Gruber spent more than four years as the Education Director for Dance Alloy Theater (Pittsburgh, PA) where she oversaw the Dance Alloy Theater School, community outreach and residency programs, and the annual summer intensive workshop.
April Gruber received her MFA in Dance Performance from the University of Maryland and is a Summa Cum Laude graduate of James Madison University where she received her Bachelors of Arts in Dance and was named Outstanding Dance Graduate.
