Shanice Mason (she/her) is an east coast based artist, arts administrator, and educator residing in the Washington, DC area. Shanice’s skills, at the intersection of art and technology, include graphic design, media production, storyboarding, and content creation. Her work in storytelling within digital media connects the creative aspects of artists’ work to its production and content delivery. An area of recent exploration is the documentation of creative process and its connection to physical practice and live performance.
Shanice freelances with a variety of DC-based dance companies and periodically creates her own work, recently featured at The Clarice Performing Arts Center’s Blacklight Summit. In addition to her work in the district, Shanice also serves as a founding company artist of Johnnie Cruise Mercer/TheREDProjectNYC. She currently serves as process manager and spearheads the company’s fellowship program designed for undergrad and post-grad students.
Shanice holds faculty positions at VIVA School for Dance and The Madeira School. She also serves on the Board of Directors at Dance Metro DC. Shanice is a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University where she received her BFA in Dance and Choreography and a minor in General Business.
