Bertrand Evans-Taylor, Director of Government Affairs

Bertrand Evans-Taylor serves as Director of Government Affairs at Dance/USA, where he leads the organization’s federal advocacy efforts and acts as a liaison between the dance ecosystem, policymakers, and the broader arts advocacy community.

He brings more than a decade of experience in arts advocacy, arts administration, and community engagement to his work. Bertrand holds a Master’s in Arts and Culture Management with a concentration in Advocacy and Outreach, where his graduate research examined the professional development needs of Black artists. He previously worked with the Performing Arts Alliance, contributing to coalition-based national arts policy initiatives.

Currently pursuing a Master of Social Work, Bertrand integrates a social work lens into arts advocacy, emphasizing equity, care, and systemic change. He believes the arts are essential to civic life and social movements, and is committed to strengthening the conditions that allow the dance ecosystem to thrive.

Outside of his professional work, Bertrand is a classical pianist, enjoys watching anime, and spends his downtime with his cat and dog.
