Join Us In Community at the 2023 Conference! Executive Director Kellee Edusei Shares What’s New for 2023

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
March 24, 2023

I invite YOU to join us in Atlanta, Georgia this June 13-16 for a joyous reunion of the national dance community at the Dance/USA 2023 Conference! Celebrate our incredible 2023 Honorees; dig into sessions and workshops centered on our theme, EMERGE | BECOME | MOVE; connect with your national network of colleagues; ideate solutions to shared problems; and leave inspired!

Based on consistent feedback, we know our community values time for networking and conversations. With this in mind, we have reimagined aspects of this year’s Conference to ensure we are meeting your needs. New at this year’s Conference will be a day dedicated to our members. On Friday, June 16, Dance/USA will host an all-member meeting at the start of the day, followed by individual Council and Affinity Group meetings. The Conference schedule will also feature longer breaks between sessions, expanded time for lunch, and more free time in the evenings.

Invest in yourself and your organization’s future by making plans to attend Dance/USA’s 2023 Conference. Early bird registration ends in five days – on Wednesday, March 29. Don’t miss out on the lowest registration rates; register today

Additionally, I have another announcement to share. After 2023, Dance/USA will shift to a biennial Conference, with the next Dance/USA national Conference taking place in June 2025 in Chicago, Illinois.

We have made an intentional decision to change our Conference cycle, rooted in our organizational values of creativity, connectivity, equity, and integrity. This shift will give us a greater opportunity to redesign our Conference environment through a human centered lens, build and strengthen our local and national partnerships, and deepen our connection with the host city by centering community. Moving to a biennial cycle will also give us the opportunity to offer timely and robust virtual programming and moments for connectivity throughout the year.

Dance/USA is committed to convening the national dance ecosystem annually. During the alternate years of the national Conference, we will host the Dance Forum. The Dance Forum is a pre-Conference convening taking place before the start of the Association of Performing Arts Professionals (APAP) Conference and the next Dance Forum will take place in January 2024.

We recognize that our member community and organizations within the dance ecosystem and arts and cultural sector are considering how to invest in the leadership of their teams. With this in mind, we additionally hope that shifting to a biennial Conference cycle will allow greater participation from our colleagues across the country regardless of job function, title, or Dance/USA membership status. The connections and relationships that are built and nurtured at our national convenings are invaluable and help the dance ecosystem thrive.

I hope to see you in Atlanta! If you have any questions about Dance/USA programming, please connect with us.

With my deepest gratitude and in humble service,

Kellee Edusei
