Genie Guerard has served the UCLA Library Special Collections for twenty years, first as digital manuscripts librarian and currently as a curator and manuscripts librarian. She curates both physical and digital collections, primarily in the areas of dance, contemporary fine arts, design and architecture, book arts, and literature. Her current focus at UCLA as dance curator is on community dance organizations that reflect the diversity of Los Angeles’s rich history and culture.
She served on the Board of Directors of the Dance Heritage Coalition (DHC) from 2009 to the present, and as chair since 2015. Currently, she is an active participant in the leadership group that is integrating the DHC’s preservation, archives, and education programs into Dance/USA.
Guerard studied ballet with Margaret Graham Hills and Stanley Holden who came to L.A. from the Sadlers-Wells Royal Ballet, modern dance with Bella Lewitzsky and Company, modern jazz and Graham technique with Jaime Rogers, and Dunham and Horton with Elle Johnson. She continues to study Iyengar yoga and has recently collaborated with performing artists at UCLA on exhibits and installations that have presented at Royce Hall.back to Board of Trustees
