Dorene Wiese

Dr. Dorene Wiese is an enrolled White Earth Ojibwe and the founding president of the American Indian Association of Illinois and CEO of NAES, Inc. (formerly NAES College). She served as an Illinois Community College administrator for over 20 years and founded the first Adult Literacy and Learning Center for American Indians in the state. She has spent a lifetime advocating for urban American Indian education and health. She was the first American Indian to be appointed to the Cook County Health and Hospital Systems board, serving as the Chair, Human Resources for this multi-billion-dollar non-profit. Wiese also serves as the artistic director for the Black Hawk Performance Dance Company, the oldest American Indian dance company in Chicago.
