Dance/USA Announces Newly Elected Officers and Members of its 2018-2019 Board of Trustees

Washington, DC – Dance/USA, the national association for professional dance, is pleased to announce its 2018-2019 Board of Trustees.  For a complete list of the 2018-2019 Board of Trustees and their biographies, read more here.

Dance/USA’s new Chair Elect is Malik Robinson (executive director, Cleo Parker Robinson Dance, Denver, CO).  Kim Ondreck Carim (chief operating officer/chief financial officer, Oakland Museum of California, Oakland, CA) is the new Treasurer, Jerron Herman (development director/dancer, Heidi Latsky Dance, New York, NY) is the new Secretary.

The Board of Trustees recently nominated six new members to serve a three-year term: Holly Bass (artistic director, Holly Bass|360, Washington, DC), Shane Fernando (executive and artistic director, the Wilson Center at Cape Fear Community College, Wilmington, NC), Amalia Viviana Basanta Hernández (artistic director, Ballet Folkórico de México de Amalia Hernández, México en Moviemiento, Ballet de México de Amalia V.B. Hernández USA; San Diego, CA), Anne Huang (development director, World Arts West, San Francisco, CA), Antoine Hunter (founder and artistic director, Urban Jazz Dance Company and director, Bay Area International Deaf Dance Festival, San Francisco, CA), and Ellen Walker (executive director, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Seattle, WA)

“The newly appointed Dance/USA Trustees are an exciting, diverse group of dance leaders from across the United States” commented Dance/USA Board Chair Michelle Ramos. “The Board of Trustees is committed to governing Dance/USA in a way that ensures the organization will continue to evolve and will lead the organization as it continues to focus on values of equity and justice. We are confident that the new Trustees on the Board will help drive and challenge our organization in exciting new ways and we are incredibly grateful to those Trustees that will be stepping down this year.”

The following Trustees rotated off the Board of Trustees this summer: Nancy Kadel, MD (orthopedic surgeon, Bend, OR), Felicia Rosenfeld, (former executive director, Dance Resource Center, Los Angeles, CA), C.C. Conner (executive director emeritus, Houston Ballet, Houston, TX), Barry Hughson (executive director, National Ballet of Canada, Toronto, Canada), Robert Dorf (consultant, New York, NY), Harris Ferris (executive director, Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, Pittsburgh, PA), Sixto Wagan (director, Center for Art and Social Engagement, University of Houston, Houston, TX), Melanie Rios Glaser (choreographer, Santa Ana, CA), Allyson Esposito (senior director, arts and culture, The Boston Foundation, Boston, MA), Gaby Poler-Buzali (director of development, Texas State University, San Marcos, TX).
