Dance/USA Announces New Officers and Trustees for its 2020-2021 Board of Trustees

Washington, DC – Dance/USA, the national service organization for professional dance, is pleased to announce its 2020-2021 Board of Trustees. For a complete list of the 2020-2021 Board of Trustees and their biographies, read more here.

Dance/USA’s new Board Chair Elect is Anne Huang (executive director, World Arts West, San Francisco, CA). Jerron Herman (interdisciplinary artist, New York, NY) is the new Vice Chair, Kathy Brown (executive director, New York City Ballet, New York, NY) is the new Treasurer, and Debbie Blunden-Diggs (artistic director, Dayton Contemporary Dance Company, Dayton, OH) is the new Secretary. 

The Board of Trustees has nominated six new members to serve a three-year term: Greg Cameron (president/CEO, Joffrey Ballet, Chicago, IL), Geoff Chang (general manager, Mark Morris Dance Group, Brooklyn, NY), Nikki Estes (program director, South Arts, Atlanta, GA), Denise Pate (cultural funding program coordinator, City of Oakland, Oakland, CA), Abdo Sayegh Rodriguez (managing director, TU Dance, Saint Paul, MN) and George Staib (artistic director, staibdance and professor of practice, Emory University Department of Theater and Dance, Atlanta, GA).

Dance/USA’s membership elected five new Council Chairs for a one-year term: Scott Altman (president/CEO, Cincinnati Ballet, Cincinnati, OH), Kara Medoff Barnett (executive director, American Ballet Theatre, New York, NY), Celia Fushille (artistic director, Smuin Ballet, San Francisco, CA), Sandy Garcia (director of booking, Pentacle, New York, NY), and Rhetta Shead (director of administration, Cleo Parker Robinson Dance, Denver, CO).

“I am deeply honored to serve as Board Chair Elect,” said Huang. “As a woman of Asian descent who represents the world dance community, I’m proud to be part of Dance/USA’s leadership. As I reflect on Dance/USA’s equity journey, I am excited to help lead Dance/USA’s effort to be a truly inclusive organization, through our membership, program participation, and board and staff representation.”

The following Trustees rotated off the Dance/USA Board of Trustees this summer: Kim Ondreck Carim (deputy director and chief financial officer, Oakland Museum of California, Oakland, CA), Celine Schein Das (executive director, Chitresh Das Institute, San Francisco, CA), Pam Green (founder and president, PMG Arts Management, Durham, NC), Rosemary Johnson (executive director, Alabama Dance Council, Birmingham, AL), Jaamil Olawale Kosoko (poet, curator, performance artist, Brooklyn, NY), Doug Singleton (executive director, Charlotte Ballet, Charlotte, NC), and Denise Saunders Thompson (president and CEO, The Internationals Association of Blacks in Dance, Silver Spring, MD). Sue Porter (executive director, BalletMet, Columbus, OH), Andrew Delicata (president and partner, KMP Artists, Houston, TX), and Victoria Morgan (artistic director, Cincinnati Ballet, Cincinnati, OH) also completed their Board terms as Council Chairs.
