Washington, DC – Dance/USA, the national service organization for professional dance, announced today that the 2020 Annual Conference in Denver has been canceled and a virtual convening will be offered this June in its place. Now more than ever, it is important to gather in conversation and support the connectivity of our field.

This decision was not made lightly, or quickly. The primary factor that led to this decision was the realization that the trajectory of the pandemic has extended into the summer. Ensuring the health and safety of the Dance/USA staff, Board of Trustees, members, and extended community is of the utmost importance. By extension, Dance/USA would not ask attendees to risk traveling, convening in-person, and/or spending already threatened resources to attend an in-person conference.

Dance/USA will host a virtual conference June 17-19, 2020 to unite the dance field, address the impact of this pandemic, and provide much needed connection, learning, and support during this unprecedented time. Council and Affinity Group meetings will take place virtually throughout the month of June. The overall structure of the virtual experience is currently being crafted with more information to come.

For people already registered for the conference, a full refund will be issued shortly. For any questions, please contact annualconference@nulldanceusa.org.
