The start of 2024 has been an exciting time for Dance/USA, filled with good news and new beginnings! In January we hosted our first in-person Dance Forum since 2020, and in the coming months we will engage in two strategic activities that will ensure Dance/USA’s sustainability and center our core values – specifically our core values of equity and integrity.

The first activity is our Strategic Reframing Process, through which we will re-evaluate and re-articulate how we do our work as a member-based organization. For the second activity, Dance/USA will refine and codify our organizational culture in close partnership with Unlock Creative to ensure we are living our values daily.

As we continue this journey, we are excited to announce that we are hiring for two roles: a Director of Member Services and a Director of Government Affairs. The application due date for both positions is March 4, 2024 at 11:59pm PST.

We are also thrilled to announce Bertrand Evans-Taylor is joining Dance/USA as the Interim Director of Government Affairs. Tony Shivers, who served as Director of Government Affairs for 3 years, recently departed to pursue a new chapter in his professional life and we could not be happier for him!

An experienced arts advocate, Evans-Taylor is well-versed in the federal advocacy issues impacting the arts and culture sector. He has been at the table with Dance/USA in our coalition work and he is ready to jump in and seamlessly move our federal advocacy work forward. We look forward to partnering with Evans-Taylor on increasing and deepening the civic engagement practices of our member community and ensuring the dance ecosystem’s voice is heard on Capitol Hill.
