Dance/USA Announces New Board Chair and Council Chairs for its 2021-2022 Board of Trustees

Washington, DC – Dance/USA, the national service organization for professional dance, announced today its 2021-2022 Board of Trustees.

Dance/USA’s new Board Chair is Anne Huang (executive director, World Arts West, San Francisco, CA). Malik Robinson (executive director, Cleo Parker Robinson Dance, Denver, CO) is the Past Board Chair. Find a complete list of the Executive Committee here.

The Dance/USA membership elected five new Council Chairs for a one-year term that commenced on July 1, 2021 and will conclude on June 30, 2022: Karen Long Charles (artistic/executive director, Threads Dance Project, Minneapolis, MN), Shoshona Currier (director, Bates Dance Festival, Lewiston, ME), Katie Moore (business director, Kun-Yang Lin/Dancers, Philadelphia, PA), Francine Sheffield (senior partner, Rhizome Arts; founder, Sheffield Global Arts Management, Richmond, VA), and Ellen Walker (executive director, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Seattle, WA). Walker is already a Trustee, serving a three-year term.

The following members of the Dance/USA Board of Trustees rotated off the Board this summer: Thaddeus Davis (co-director, Wideman/Davis Dance; associate professor, dance, University of South Carolina, Columbia, SC and Chicago, IL), Thomas DeFrantz (professor of dance and African American studies, Duke University; director, SLIPPAGE, Durham, NC), Sandy Garcia (director of booking, Pentacle, New York, NY), Amalia Viviana Basanta Hernández (artistic director, Ballet Folkórico de México de Amalia Hernández, México City, MX), Michelle Ramos (vision keeper [executive director], AlternateROOTS, New Orleans, LA), Linda Shelton (executive director, The Joyce Theater Foundation, New York, NY), and Linda Yudin (artistic director, Viver Brasil, Los Angeles, CA).
