Board of Trustees Call for Nominations
The Dance/USA Governance Committee invites nominations for new Trustees on Dance/USA’s Board.
You may nominate yourself or somebody else.
Please submit your nominations by completing this form by the end of the day in your time zone on Wednesday, July 15, 2026.
The Dance/USA Board of Trustees seeks to recruit an incoming cohort of 5-7 Board members that enhances this governing body’s capacity to:
- Represent the diversity of the dance ecosystem that Dance/USA serves, with respect to race and ethnicity, geography, gender identity, disability status, and other identities and perspectives;
- Center voices that have been historically excluded from positions of power within the dance ecosystem; and
- Contribute a variety of skills and capacities toward advancing Dance/USA’s mission, including but not limited to expertise in: the arts, nonprofit management, the law, finance, fundraising, human resources, social change, advocacy, policy, membership and field service organizations, and government.
New members of the Board will be selected based on:
- Their experience in, knowledge of, and/or passion for dance;
- Their willingness to share their expertise in humble service of the dance ecosystem; and
- Alignment of their capacity with the needs of this fiduciary body at this time.
We encourage supporters of dance from a wide variety of sectors, movements, and industries (e.g. arts, philanthropy, finance, labor, health, law, technology, narrative strategy, social justice, service organizations) to consider serving the dance field as a Trustee of Dance/USA.
Equal consideration will be given to those who self-nominate or are nominated by peer(s). The number of nominations a person may receive does not positively or negatively impact their candidacy for the board.
Trustees serve a three-year term, with the option to renew for a second three years (for a total of six years of Board service). Board members are expected to attend three annual full Board meetings (each meeting can range from two to four hours), participate in at least one Board committee, abide by Dance/USA’s bylaws, disclose any potential conflicts of interest to Dance/USA, and contribute annual Board dues in the amount of $500.
