Gabriela Poler-Buzali, joined Texas State University as Director of Development in December 2013. She is responsible for cultivating and securing major gifts for the College of Fine Arts and Communications and the College of Applied Arts in South Texas.
Before joining Texas State University, Gabriela was the executive director of the José Limón Dance Foundation (LIMON) from 2009 - 2013. Under her leadership, LIMON quadrupled its individual giving revenue, produced its most successful Galas to date, secured over $1,000,000 in major gifts, and grew its Board of Directors from 5 to 21 members. Prior to LIMON, Poler-Buzali was the executive director of the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Americas (POA), founded in 2004 by Mexican Conductor Alondra de la Parra. In her three years at POA, Poler-Buzali tripled the size of the organization; she produced more than thirty concerts for more than twenty thousand audience members, two international tours, served almost one thousand children through arts and education programs, discovered talent through the creation of two young composers’ competitions, and managed a film soundtrack with renowned film director Michel Gondry.
Earlier in her career, Poler-Buzali was the executive assistant and manager of the New York International Ballet Competition from 2000 to 2005; and development officer at the Tribeca Performing Arts Center, where she expanded the donor base, brought in new sources of funding, recruited new Board members, and produced one of the organization’s first major Galas, honoring Ron Carter, among others.
Raised in Caracas, Venezuela and fluent in Spanish and English, Poler-Buzali holds a M.A. in arts administration from Teachers College at Columbia University and a B.A. in Dance from The Boston Conservatory. She is currently a Board member for Dance/USA.back to Board of Trustees
