Trustees of Dance/USA member organizations are invited to attend a special day designed for trustees and their colleagues from across the country. This one day will provide trustees with a range of vital information relevant to their work as stewards of dance organizations -- the state of the national dance field, the national funding climate, and board-related issues -- as well as offer the opportunity to talk with and learn from experienced professionals in the dance and arts fields.
The chance to investigate issues together in a private, intimate setting is one of the major benefits of attending Dance/USA’s Conference. The special Trustees’ Day is programmed to offer trustees the opportunity to meet, share experiences, and learn from their peers as well as recognized arts leaders.
- Overview of the state of the national dance field with Douglas Sonntag, dance program director, National Endowment for the Arts;
- Conversation with Rohit Burman, director of MetLife Foundation’s Culture Program;
- Lunch with a speaker TBA
- Board Development and Participation, a participatory conversation and panel discussion, moderated by Harsha Murthy, a senior financial and pharmaceuticals/biotech executive with extensive experience both as a board member and consultant to dance companies; panelists include Marie Mattson, VP of Development at the Kennedy Center; Pauline Schneider, Secretary of the Shakespeare Theatre Board; others TBA;
- 2010 Dance/USA Honors Celebration, join other Conference attendees for a cocktail reception at the spectacular U.S. Botanic Gardens at the foot of Capitol Hill.
