Getting Around Washington, DC
We will provide thorough directions to all Conference attendees to help them get to all our venues with ease. In the meantime, check out these great in-town transportation options.
Metrorail and Metrobus
The Washington, DC Metrorail and Metrobus system is efficient and simple to navigate. Visit the Washington Area Metropolitan Transit Authority website for maps, schedules, and fares.

Circulator Bus
For only $1, the DC Circulator Bus has several simple routes that loop around DC. It's an inexpensive and easy way to get around the city.

Taxi
It is very easy to hail a cab from the sidewalk in the Washington, DC and Pentagon City area. However, if you'd like to order a cab, you can call the following companies.

Getting to the Ritz-Carlton Pentagon City

Directions from Union Station

The simplest way to get to the Ritz Carlton is to use the Metrorail system. At Union Station, buy a farecard and then board the Red Line towards Shady Grove. Get off at the Gallery Place/Chinatown stop, where you switch to the Yellow Line towards Huntington Station. Get off at the Pentagon City stop and walk north to the Ritz Carlton at 1250 South Hayes Street. (NOTE: If you miss the Gallery Place/Chinatown stop, get off at Metro Center and switch to the Blue Line towards Franconia. The Blue Line will take you to the Pentagon City stop as well.) Directions from Greyhound Bus Station at 1005 1st St NE
Walk 0.5 miles north to New York Avenue Station. Get off at the Gallery Place/Chinatown stop, where you switch to the Yellow Line towards Huntington Station. Get off at the Pentagon City stop and walk north to the Ritz Carlton at 1250 South Hayes Street. (NOTE: If you miss the Gallery Place/Chinatown stop, get off at Metro Center and switch to the Blue Line towards Franconia. The Blue Line will take you to the Pentagon City stop as well.) Directions from Airports
There are three airports serving the Washington, DC metropolitan area: Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, Dulles International Airport, and Baltimore Washington International Airport. The Ritz-Carlton Pentagon City is closet to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, but is accessible from all three airports.

From Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport
The simplest way to get to the Ritz-Carlton Pentagon City is to use the Metrorail system. Follow the signs inside the airport to the adjacent Metro station. After purchasing a fare card, board either the Blue line (in the direction of Largo Town Center) or the Yellow line (in the direction of Mt. Vernon Square/Fort Totten). Go two stops to the Pentagon City station. Once you exit the station, the hotel will be immediately visible on South Hayes Street. For more information on using Metroail, visit www.wmata.com.


From Dulles International Airport

Washington Flyer Coach Service offers first-rate travel at economy prices. You'll ride on comfortable, climate-controlled coaches to and from Washington Dulles International Airport at exceptionally low fare. Best of all, you'll enjoy a stress-free trip as you are delivered straight to the Airport's front door, or to the West Falls Church Metro Station. Washington Flyer Coach Service will take you non-stop to Metro's West Falls Church Station for just $10 one-way or $18 round-trip. This is where you can connect to the DC Metro system and continue on to your final destination quickly and conveniently. Tickets for the Flyer Coach can be purchased at the ticket counter located inside the vestibule of Door 4 on the Arrivals Level of the Main Terminal. Passengers boarding at Metro's West Falls Church Station can purchase a ticket when the Coach arrives at Washington Dulles International Airport. Metrobus Route 5A between Dulles and Washington, DC
Metrobus operates an express bus service between Dulles Airport and Washington, DC (L'Enfant Plaza) via the following stops:

  • Washington Dulles International Airport
  • Herndon-Monroe Park & Ride Lot
  • Tysons-Westpark Transit Station
  • Rosslyn Station
  • L'Enfant Plaza Station

At Dulles, the Metrobus stops at the Ground Transportation Curb (Arrivals level, down the ramp) at curb location 2E.

SuperShuttle
SuperShuttle's door-to-door shared ride van service is available to and from Washington Dulles International Airport. The SuperShuttle ticket counters are located on the far ends of the Ground Transportation Level of the Main Terminal. Shuttles operate on an on-demand basis. From Baltimore Washington International Airport
 
The taxi stand is located just outside of the baggage claim area of the Lower Level of the BWI Marshall terminal. Please note that this service is available from BWI Marshall only. For cab service to BWI Marshall, please consult your local cab company. BWI Marshall taxicabs are prohibited from charging flat rates. Private Car / RMA Worldwide - Sedans and Limousines

MARC Trains provide service to the BWI Marshall Rail Station, where free shuttles serve the airport terminal. Shuttle stops are located on the lower level terminal roadway in between door numbers 1 & 2, 8 & 9, 14 & 15, and 17 & 18. The BWI Rail Station is located one mile from the terminal building. The MTA recently announced a new feature known as the MARCTracker which enables passengers to determine the location and status of every operating MARC train. For more information on this new service, log onto www.MARCTracker.com. Customers can also call the MTA Customer Call Center Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. at 866-RIDE-MTA or log onto the MTA website.

Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority Bus Service
Metro now offers BWI Express Metro bus service between BWI Marshall and the Greenbelt metro station. The service provides a direct connection between BWI Marshall and the Greenbelt Metro Station. The BWI Express/B30 service runs every 40 minutes, 7 days a week to the Greenbelt Metro Station, which is located on the Green Line of the Washington Metro System. Buses run 25 times each weekday and 21 times on Saturdays and Sunday, every 40 minutes. For more information call 202.637.7000 or go to www.wmata.com.
