Scheduling Congressional Visits

As a member benefit, Dance/USA will help schedule meetings with members of Congress on Capitol Hill and provide the training and resources necessary for a successful visit.

  • Contact Dance/USA's Government Affairs Office at least 2 weeks before arriving in DC.
  • Make sure you know: your available times, your Congressional district, and who will be participating in the hill visit.

Visiting members of Congress is a great way to share your concerns around funding for the National Endowment for the Arts, tax provisions that impact dance companies, and many other issues. But it's also important that you share information about your organization. To prepare for a visit, come prepared with stories about the work your company is doing, including artistic, educational, and community engagement. Information about how many individuals you employ is also helpful as well revenue data, such as the percentage of revenue that comes from private contributions.

** UPDATE:  Congress is in recess and will not return to Washington until September 9. This is a fantastic opportunity to schedule meetings with members of Congress in your state or invite them to visit your organization. For assistance in scheduling meetings, please email Dance/USA's Government Affairs office.
