The Rough Waters Survey is a series of brief surveys designed to uncover the challenges facing the U.S. dance field during these difficult economic times. The first Rough Waters Survey was conducted in January 2009, followed by a second round in May 2009, a third in January 2010, and a fourth in May 2010.

The Rough Waters Survey IV designed to measure how individuals and dance-based organizations are faring in the current season. Currently, the results from this survey are being analyzed. The Dance/USA research staff thanks those who have completed the survey, and will post the results in mid-June.

Although the hard times are continuing, the dance field is adept at managing limited resources and thinking creatively when faced with a challenge. Your responses to this survey help us prove it.
