Nancy Umanoff

Nancy Umanoff was born and raised in New York.

She received a BA in Dance from the State University of New York at Brockport and an MFA in Performing Arts Administration from Brooklyn College. She worked at Pentacle/Danceworks, Inc. for six years during which time she administered the Foundation for Independent Artists and acted as the Project Coordinator for the National Choreography Project. She became the Managing Director of the Mark Morris Dance Group in 1986 and its Executive Director in 2000. Umanoff received the Arts & Business Council’s 2000 Encore Award for Excellence in Arts Management.

She has guest lectured on arts administration, served on numerous arts panels, and currently serves on the board of directors for the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership.
