Morning Movement with Adrienne Clancy
Thursday, June 17, 7:30-8:15am
From her distinct experiences of directing the ClancyWorks Dance Company, Adrienne Clancy is able to teach to a wide array of individuals with a range of ages and experiences with dance from the novice to the professional dancer, college students through seniors. Clancy’s class will include energizing, gentle stretching and easy motion exercises that will help you feel lengthened and energized for the conference day.
Adrienne Clancy
Adrienne Clancy is the Artistic Director and the Founder of ClancyWorks, a dance company that shifts perceptions through quality performances and works to advance positive social action through education. The Washington Post has described Adrienne Clancy, Founder, as “a wizard of invention” and her choreography as “a tour de force of unpredictable partnering.” Clancy has been choreographing professionally for the past twenty years and her work has been presented nationally and internationally in England, Israel, Japan, Mexico, Paraguay and Poland. Prior to directing the ClancyWorks Dance Company, Adrienne worked as company member for the following choreographers: Bella Lewitzky, Liz Lerman, Nora Reynolds-Daniel, and as a Guest Artist for Bill Evans, Maida Withers, and Victoria Marks. Ms. Clancy is currently the Artist-In-Residence at American University (DC) and is on the faculty at George Mason University (VA). In addition to directing ClancyWorks and teaching dance, Adrienne is currently pursuing a PhD in Dance from Texas Woman’s University.
Current projects for ClancyWorks include: presenting national and local performances; conducting numerous workshops to participants of all ages and all levels of ability at national conferences, universities, public and private schools K-12; participating in panel discussions; adjudicating the work of emerging artists; and coaching youth artists as performers, educators and choreographers.
