Melissa Lineburg graduated from Radford University in May 2011 and has been advocating for the arts as well as dancing, performing, and teaching classical ballet. Her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Dance: Classical Ballet and a minor in Business Administration is helpful when pursuing a passion of performing as well as being an arts activist in Washington, D.C. Melissa has danced since the young age of 3. She began her training in Charles Town, West Virginia, and at the Frederick School of Classical Ballet in Maryland. She has performed roles in The Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty, and Cinderella. At Radford University, she performed in Fall Dance Fest, Evening of Ballet, The Nutcracker, and Dancing on the Edge. Most notably, she danced the solo for the Dance Theatre of Lynchburg’s Keith Lee’s The Motion Chamber. Melissa has been a company member with Misako Ballet Company in
Columbia, Maryland for more than a year. This small, lively company is known throughout the
area for gracefully infusing Japanese culture with traditional,
classical ballet. Melissa has danced roles as Spanish and Arabian in
The Nutcracker, Marie Taglioni in the much-loved
Pas de Quatre, Odette from
The Swan Lake,
Esmerelda, and
Le Corsaire's Obilesques. She also dances for MOVEius Dance, Washington D.C.'s Audience Choice during the Capitol Fringe Fest in 2012. Melissa started at Dance/USA as the Membership Fellow and is now the Executive Administrator at the national office.
