Mari Travis, Membership Fellow

Baltimore native, Mari Andrea Travis is an arts administrator, teaching artist and freelance dancer and choreographer. Mari is a graduate of Morgan State University where she received a BA in theatre, with a concentration in musical theatre choreography. This fall, Mari will begin pursuing an MFA in dance at Sarah Lawrence College. Mari’s work has been seen on the stages of Morgan State University; Georgetown University; Duke Ellington School for the Arts; Arena Playhouse, Baltimore, MD; and Spotlighter’s Theatre, Baltimore, MD, to name a few. Mari is the Founder and Artistic Director of Charm City Dance Theatre, a pre-professional dance company mentoring passionate youth dancers. Most recently, Mari joined Trajectory Dance Project, a new Baltimore-based ensemble, housed at Coppin State University. In 2012, Ms. Travis was nominated to participate in Artist U (Baltimore), a nine-month program for 12 performance-based, originating artists, empowering art makers to leverage their talents and accomplishments toward individual goals and visions.
