Kate is Texas-born and Virginia-raised. She is a graduate from the School of Theatre and Dance at James Madison University. She previously served as the Programming/Annual Conference Intern at Dance/USA and interim Executive Administrator. Kate fulfilled Technical Theatre and Front of House duties at Dance Place in Washington, D.C. She periodically does freelance technical theatre work, and performs with UpRooted Dance and works on various projects with local artists. At JMU, she performed and choreographed for the Contemporary Dance Ensemble and Virginia Repertory Dance Company. Kate also has international experience, taking a Contemporary Dance & Performance course in London, UK, and studied butoh dance with Dairakudakan in Hakuba, Japan. She is eager to get involved in new projects in the Washington Metropolitan area and furthering her breadth of knowledge in performance, choreography, dance production, professional development, and event planning.
