Ferris was previously executive director of Nevada Ballet Theatre in Las Vegas, Nevada and headed New Jersey's American Repertory Ballet of New Brunswick and Princeton, where he also served as managing director to the affiliated Princeton Ballet School.
As a dancer, Ferris enjoyed a 13-year professional career at the Empire State Ballet Theatre in Buffalo, New York. Ferris attended Bard College, holds a B.A. from The State University of New York at Buffalo and an M.B.A. from Rutgers University.
Outside of ballet, his interests include ballroom dancing, show jumping, fox hunting, and downhill skiing. He continues to split time between Pittsburgh and Las Vegas.
