Gabriela Poler-Buzali, joined the José Limón Dance Foundation in July 2009. Poler-Buzali was the executive assistant and manager of the New York International Ballet Competition from 2000 to 2005; and development officer at the Tribeca Performing Arts Center, where she expanded the donor base, brought in new sources of funding, recruited new board members, and produced one of the organization’s first major Galas, honoring Ron Carter, among others.
In 2006, Poler-Buzali accepted the position of executive director of the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Americas (POA), founded in 2004 by Mexican Conductor Alondra de la Parra. In her three years at POA, Poler-Buzali tripled the size of the organization; she produced more than thirty concerts for more than twenty thousand audience members, two international tours, served almost one thousand children through arts and education programs, discovered talent through the creation of two young composers’ competitions, and managed a film soundtrack with renowned film director Michel Gondry.
Raised in Caracas, Venezuela and fluent in Spanish and English, Poler-Buzali holds a M.A. in arts administration from Teachers College at Columbia University and a B.A. in Dance from The Boston Conservatory.
