John Munger, director of research and information, has collected data and information for Dance/USA for more than 10 years. A compilation of his data is presented in his article describing the state of the dance field, titled “Dancing with Dollars in the Millennium,” which was published as a supplement to the April 2001 issue of Dance Magazine. John Munger analyzes data from other arts studies and provides a synthesis of the information that is important to the dance field.

Munger prepares annual personnel compensation and data surveys, based on information collected from Dance/USA member companies. The complete studies are issued to participating companies, and information gleaned from the surveys is available to press, arts researchers, dance companies, and other arts professionals.

In addition to offering surveys of the national dance scene, Dance/USA has initiated regional needs assessments of the dance field to help funders and the dance communities identify ways that the dance field could be strengthened. In 2002, Dance/USA expects to issue reports from studies of San Francisco, Chicago, and Washington, DC.

SnapFacts, which offers a synopsis of important statistical data, are issued three or four times a year. Dance/USA members receive these in a timely way.  Click to view sample SnapFacts on Individual Donors  and Economic Impact of Dance.
