We know that people remember what they have learned
according to two things that happen inside the learner -- attention, and
thinking about the material
. Situations in which speeches are delivered
leave most people looking in the right direction but not actively
listening. Situations in which dialogue
and personal interactions happen leave most people debating, challenging each
other and themselves.
The greatest
learning -most apt to translate into understanding and action- comes from experiential learning or
"doing" opportunities. Dance/USA believes that the
development and implementation of programs that include these components will
be in the best interest of all who are involved in both delivering and
receiving them.
