Applications Due for DCA Gary Parks Scholarship
Portland, OR — Applications are open for the 2004 Gary Parks Memorial Scholarship for developing/emerging critics.
The Parks Scholarship consists of $500 towards travel and/or lodging to attend the Dance Critics Association's annual conference and writing workshop, being held June 4–6 at the Prince Music Theater in Philadelphia. Recipients are required to attend all conference events as well as a writing workshop held during the conference. Recipients also will be asked to write a report on his or her experience at the conference for the DCA Newsletter.
Two scholarships of $500 each are available.
Applicants should send seven (7) copies of three samples of published criticism. An accompanying cover letter should include why they are applying, professional qualifications, and explain how the applicant feels that he or she would benefit from attending the DCA Conference in Philadelphia. Any special circumstances — financial need, specialities, English as a Second Language, etc. — should also be mentioned in the cover letter.
