In June 2010, Dance/USA, the national service organization for the professional, not-for-profit dance field, will hold its Annual Conference in Washington, DC. The theme of the conference, which will take place from June 16-19, is "Dance Beyond Borders." This encompasses all the borders that define us -- real or imagined –- including cultural heritage, diversity, international and national borders, technology, ability, style, genre, audiences, disciplines, generational, etc.
The Annual Conference is the broadest range of dance professionals gathering in the United States. We expect 350-400 executive directors, artistic directors, company managers, choreographers, artists, presenters, agents, and other individuals associated with the professional dance (educators, marketing and development staff, etc.) industry to join us for four days of networking, information sharing, professional development, discussions on important issues facing the field, and performances.

At the conference, attendees meet in:
  • Large Plenary Sessions, designed to expand thinking and contextualize current moments
  • Council Sessions (peer gatherings of members and member organizations)
  • Break-out Sessions, designed to address the immediate concerns of the field and conference theme
  • Open Time for attendees to reconnect and form new relationships that will sustain them between annual conferences.
